Old Anstey Receipts from 1930s – from wireless sets to physician’s invoices

Our thanks go to Diane Green for loaning Anstey Archivist Brian Kibble this wonderful set of old receipts and invoices – which we have now been able to scan for both the archive and our online collection.

Brian notes that he particularly likes the Horrace Elliot receipt as his father joined them in 1931 and actually drove the steam lorry pictured.  He adds he loves he way “most of them were receipted over postage stamps and the two “doctor” ones referred to themselves not as doctors but physicians & surgeons.  Also note the price of the radio set in 1926 on the last one – £25 – a massive £900 in today’s money! – must have been a cabinet?”
